SEPTEMBER NEWS

Labor Day: We are closed on Labor Day, Mon Sept 6. Most of our classes which took a summer break are up and running again for September, see our timetable below.

David Robson: Our full weekend workshop with authorised Toronto teacher David Robson on September 17, 18 and 19 is available for registration. David's dynamic teachings were a huge hit during his last visit, his classes are serious fun!  Please check our workshops page for more details.

Intro course: Our next four-week intro course with Richard Tate runs Sat September 25 to Sat October 16, from 11:45-1:15pm. The fundamentals of astanga will be offered, including alignment, breath, bandhas and dristi as well as yoga history and philosophy. Fee is $65+hst (students -10%), to register email astangaottawa@yahoo.ca, call 613 722 6860 or come and see us at the studio 10 minutes before the start of any class.

New class! In September we are launching a new Friday night class - mixed level astanga with meditation from 6:30-8pm, led by Richard Tate. Richard will place an emphasis on alignment and the meditative aspects of the practice, especially the conscious integration of breath and movement. This class starts Friday, Sept 24.

Morning Mysore
All morning Mysore classes MUST be pre-booked, except for out-of-town practitioners who should email astangaottawa@yahoo.ca or contact us on 613 722 6860.
Drop-in classes
Any drop-in class means there's no need to book, just show up!

CLASS LEVELS:
Intro course:
Fundamentals of Astanga, including standing postures with breath, bandhas and dristi as well as yoga history and philosophy.
Mixed level: Appropriate for all levels. Standing, seated and finishing postures, dependent on the students in the class.
Mixed level with meditation: Appropriate for all levels. An emphasis on correct alignment and the meditative aspects of the practice, in particular the conscious integration of breath and movement. Concludes with a short seated meditation.
Astanga 1: Beginners welcome. Standing, seated and finishing postures, with a focus on the fundamentals, including proper alignment and breath.
Astanga 1-2: A more vigorous class with a half-primary series flow, modifications offered. Experience in 10 Astanga 1 classes recommended.
Astanga 2: Half-primary series flow plus postures from the second half of primary series, experience in 10 Astanga 1 classes recommended.
Astanga 3: Full Primary Series postures in a continuous flow, this is a strong class and is NOT for beginners or for those new to Astanga Vinyasa practice.
Mysore: The best way to practice! Learn the sequence with hands-on adjustments from
your teacher. Beginners welcome, but try to attend at least three Astanga 1 classes first.
